Hadn't you have the chance to visit Crete yet?

Well, let me tell you a few things about my island.

Crete or KRITI in greek, is the largest  of the Greek islands, the fifth largest island in the Mediterranean, and the southest region of Greece. It forms a significant part of the economy and cultural heritage of Greece while retaining its own local cultural traits (such as its own dialect, poetry and music). Crete was the centre of the Minoan Civilization (2700–1420 BC), the earliest "high culture" civilization in Europe, which built the first palaces in Europe.

Traveling to Crete for first time, first of all, is a life experience.

The length of the island is 260 km with 1.046 km of shores and it lies at the south-east Mediterranean  at the crossroads of three continents Europe, Asia and Africa. The biggest width is 60 km while the smallest is 12 km.
A high mountain range crosses the island from West to East, formed by three different groups of mountains. To the West the White Mountains (2.453 m), in the middle the mountain of Idi (Psiloritis-2.456 m) and to the East the mountain of Dikti (2.148 m).
These mountains gifted Crete with fertile plateaus like Lassithi, Omalos and Nida, caves like Dikteon and Ideon cave, and gorges like the famous gorge of Samaria.
There are also quite a few valleys plateus small plains. The largest plateau is Lassithi located at the east part of the island and most important plain is that of Messara located between Psiloritis and Asterousia mountains at the centre - south of the island.

Main Cities and Towns in Crete are Chania, Rethymnon, Heraklion, Ag. Nikolaos, Sitia on the north coast and Paleochora, Mires, Tymbaki, Ierapetra on the south coast.
